Platform 3900
Ground up Development South Salt lake
Platform 3900 is a proposed 150-unit affordable senior living community in South Salt Lake, designed as two residential towers with one- and two-bedroom homes above podium parking and 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. The project is conceived as a service-enriched, age-restricted community with a strong emphasis on livability, accessibility, and long-term affordability. Planned amenities include six indoor community rooms, outdoor green terraces, gardens, a dog park, and wellness-oriented gathering spaces that support connection, independence, and aging in place.
Its location near the Meadowbrook TRAX station makes Platform 3900 especially well suited for seniors. The project deck notes the site is about a five-minute walk from Meadowbrook Station, directly served by a UTA bus stop, and connected to shopping, entertainment, and community services, including WinCo, City Creek, Ballpark, and the South Salt Lake Community Center. UTA’s Meadowbrook Station is served by both the TRAX Blue Line and Red Line, giving residents direct regional transit access while reducing the need for car ownership.
South Salt Lake’s demographics also reinforce the need for this kind of housing. The city has a population of about 26,352, a median age of 31.4, and a notably diverse population, with 22.4% of residents foreign-born. Median household income is about $72,152, while 15.8% of residents live below the poverty line, pointing to a continued need for affordable housing choices in transit-connected areas. The city’s Planning & Zoning materials also highlight the Meadowbrook & Millcreek Station Area Plan, reflecting an official policy focus on walkability, housing, and transit-oriented growth around this station area.
